Amethyst is a Minecraft Java launcher with its own Fabric client. 42 modules live in one menu: HUD, minimap, hitboxes, shield colours, zoom and more. Mods come straight from Modrinth, and every launch is timed to the title screen.

The launcher
Make an instance, add mods from Modrinth, press Play. Every launch shows each step with its time, and the launcher gets out of the way while you play.
Each instance shows its mods with versions and sizes, a switch per mod, and Update all with a backup you can roll back in one click. Every launch shows how long Fabric, Minecraft and resource loading took.
The real launcher at 1440 by 900, version 0.16.1.
When the game crashes, the launcher names the likely cause in plain words and offers to switch off the mod behind it; the full report stays one click away. It updates itself when it opens, and every update is signed and checked before it installs.
Measured, with the conditions
Every number here comes from a benchmark run on the PC below: the median of five runs, unless the row says otherwise. Amethyst's own code is 1.3 % of the game's render thread.
| Test | Result | How |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate, 60 mods | 948FPS | Median. Slowest one-second sample: 857 FPS. |
| Start to the title screen | 17.1s | Warm start with 60 mods, Play pressed to first title frame. |
| First start after install | 27.2s | Fabric caches and configs deleted first. Measured on 0.13.1. |
| Java 25 option | +2% | 925.6 vs 907.3 FPS, median of 4 interleaved pairs. Opt-in per instance. |

Download
Minecraft versions the client supports:
- Run the installer. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Sign in with Microsoft. Your browser opens Microsoft's own sign-in page. The launcher keeps the sign-in encrypted on your PC.
- Make an instance and press Play. Pick a Minecraft version, start blank or optimized, or import one from another launcher.
- Updates come by themselves. The launcher checks amethystclient.com when it opens, and installs an update only after its signature checks out.
Questions
Which Minecraft versions does it support?
Minecraft Java 1.21.1, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, all with Fabric. The launcher picks the right client build for each instance.
Can I use it on servers?
Yes. Amethyst shows what your game already knows and never plays for you: no auto-clicking, no aim help. Some servers still ban certain kinds of mods, such as freelook or hitboxes, so check the rules of the servers you play on and switch off what they don't allow.
Does it work with my mods?
Amethyst is a Fabric client, so Fabric mods work next to it. Sodium, Iris, Lithium and the other usual performance mods are what the benchmarks run with. Where a mod does the same job as an Amethyst module, such as ShieldStatus or ShulkerBoxTooltip, Amethyst steps aside.
Can I bring my Lunar or Prism setup?
Yes. The launcher imports profiles from Lunar, Prism, the Modrinth App, CurseForge, Feather and .minecraft, and tells you what it could not bring over. It reads mod files and settings only, never the accounts or sign-ins of other launchers.
How do updates work?
When the launcher opens, it asks amethystclient.com whether a newer version exists. Every update is signed, and the launcher installs it only if the signature and checksum match. If an update fails, the version you have keeps working, and Settings lets you go back to an earlier one.
Is my Microsoft account safe?
You sign in on Microsoft's own page in your browser; the launcher never sees your password. The sign-in it keeps on your PC is encrypted with Windows' protection for your user account.
When do macOS and Linux come?
The launcher already has the code for both, and test builds are being made. They will appear on the download page once they have been tested on real Macs and Linux PCs.
